propiedadesFarmacologicas: Nimotuzumab is an innovative anti-EGFR therapeutic monoclonal antibody that binds to the extracellular domain of the EGFR, inhibiting the downstream activation of EGF signal with intermediate affinity (KD: 10 – 8 M). Due to it, inhibit the cell proliferation, promote tumor apoptosis and inhibit angiogenesis; more significant in cancer cell overexpressed EGFR. Nimotuzumab is an IgG1 immunoglobulin which induces antibody-dependent cytotoxicity (ADCC) and complement- mediated cytotoxicity (CDC).

indicacionesTerapeuticas: 1. Advanced Head and Neck cancer patients combined with radiotherapy or chemoradiation. 2. Advanced Nasopharyngeal cancer patients combined with radiotherapy. 3. Glioblastoma multiform and Anaplastic Astrocytoma newly diagnosed combined with radiotherapy in adult patients. 4. Pediatric high-grade glioma patients with recurrent or refractory disease as monotherapy and high-grade glioma newly diagnosed in combination with radiotherapy or chemoradiation. 5. Locally advanced esophageal cancer patients combined with chemoradiation. 6. Locally advanced and metastatic pancreatic cancer combined with chemotherapy (Gemcitabine). 7. Advanced non-small cell lung cancer as maintenance after first line of chemotherapy platine based. Nimotuzumab has granted Orphan Drug condition for Glioma pediatric patients and Pancreas carcinoma by European Medicine Agency (EMA) and the Food and Drug Administration of the United States (FDA).

How can I access the therapeutic vaccines against lung cancer?


Cuba has 2 therapeutic vaccines for advanced lung cancer:
CIMAvax EGF ® and VAXIRA ® (racotumomab). Both therapeutic vaccines have sanitary registration in the indication of stage III and IV advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), after the first line of chemotherapy. The main clinical benefit of these vaccines has been shown to be increased survival and improved quality of life, as well as a broad safety profile.

How to acquire the vaccines?
Foreigners should contact the Cuban Medical Services who will evaluate each case as part of a comprehensive patient care program, with commercial value.
